This is all about Bentos- those cute yet complicated Japanese lunch boxes. These are steps and ideas to making your own bento meal minus the time consuming stuff.
Basics needed for the "Poor Man's/Woman's Bento" is:
A Plastic pencil box that snaps shut (really good too)Like this one:

napkins and of course food.
I find the greatest thing to make is sandwiches. Simply make your normal size sandwich , then using a glass (or for the mini bento a bottle cap) cut shapes out of it.For little dividers or containers check out the baby department in the grocery store. Even dollar stores have little eatting containers for toddlers or infants. ^^
For the mini bento (used for snacking):
1. Altoid or similar mint tin.
All you really need to do is stuff a napkin in it,pile in any minisweets and candy you can get your hands on and a pair of chopsticks cut to fit inside the box. This is one I made with a Jelly Belly tin
